Mary Poppins and Me

There are rumors that I watched Mary Poppins every day when I was 4. That sounds like a pretty awesome childhood to me. :)

I love the movie Mary Poppins and recently I have discovered how much I love the products that came out in support of the movie. They have a very distinct and colorful branding that is so fun and whimsical.



Remember when I found these Mary Poppins board games? That colorful style is so inspiring to me!

I started a Pinterest board to collect Mary Poppins items and inspiration- everything from a vintage lunchbox to Mary Poppins tattoos. (!!!!! I have one tattoo - a very, very tiny brown cross on my wrist. I have often daydreamed about getting another but no tattoo idea has twitterpated my heart quite like the idea of a Mary Poppins tattoo has! I know, I'm OBSESSED!)

DIY: Make a Dress!

Pinterest tells me that 9 weeks ago I pinned this pin that shows how to make your own dress from fabric and a tank top.

It's so, so easy and I became so, so obsessed! I have made 5 dresses so far - here are my 3 favorites.

I have plans for many more- I just gotta find the hour to carve out and focus! I have learned a lot along the way - be sure to enclose your hems so the fabric doesn't fray - OR just use the selvage at the bottom of your skirt and then you don't have to do anything!

All the tank tops are cheapos from Wal-mart ranging from $3-$4! The first skirt fabric was $1.50 a yard at our new Wal-Mart, the middle dress is made from fabric from JoAnn, and the third dress is made from thrifted fabric that I've had for years!

This is such an easy way to make affordable dresses! I love them!

Pinterest: The Jealous Thrifter

I didn't do any thrifting last week (I've been trying to take it easy since I have already shopped a lot in March and my booth isn't doing as well as the past few months so I don't want to over-spend) so unfortunately I don't have anything for today's Thrift Report!

But! I do scour the internet for other people's amazing finds and pin them to a board I started called "The Jealous Thrifter."


I think it's so fun to see what other people find and it helps me curate my style even better. Look at all the chairs I've pinned! Obsessed! :)

Everyone's posting about Pinterest... so here's my obligatory Pinterest post!

I wasn't sure I'd like Pinterest - I didn't really see the point - but my, oh my, is it great eye candy!! Now that I'm not planning a wedding, I'm ready to get our house in order!
