This season, I discovered the genius of TomAndLorenzo.com. These guys write the most incredible Mad Men recaps every Monday and every Wednesday they publish an academic breakdown of what the characters are wearing and how it relates to the themes of the season. They have really cracked the code and it's fascinating to read.
If you haven't checked them out, head over here to read their Mad Men recaps and Mad Style posts! They even did an amazing analysis of Bob Benson (my new favorite!) last week!
Tom and Lorenzo have been referring to this season as a Muppet Babies version of Mad Men, and they couldn't be more right. From Roger declaring "This is MY funeral!" when his mother's funeral didn't go the way he wanted to Ted whining "I want MY juice" to... Don Draper whining like a baby.
And I leave you with that! One of the funniest moments of the season.
If you're new to Owl Really, welcome! Please check out my favorite posts and consider subscribing! :)
I've been reading Tom & Lorenzo's hilarious yet academic recaps all season, too. These grown men need a babysitter, it's definitely a cautionary tale season with many mistakes to learn from. I love all the history-repeating-itself motifs, this season's spun its wheels more than once (no surprises on Don's development what-so-ever, the whorehouse thing is no revelation) but still entertaining as hell.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, the season started out slow and really ramped up! Only one more episode. Ahhh! Bob has always reminded me and the mister of Finch from How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. After the revelations of the last episode concerning his background, even more so! I'll have to check out that site, it sounds interesting. :)
ReplyDeleteTHERE GOES THE REST OF MY AFTERNOON (ps: this is amazing! how did i not know about this? THANKS!) :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad I could share this site with you guys!! :)
