Do you remember when I bought a chair at an auction a few weeks ago and Andy hauled it home for me? I am guest-blogging over at Lather, Write, Repeat today on exactly what I did with the chair! Check it out! It's a pretty amazing (yet simple!) transformation and I included lots of helpful details that can help you update your own chair!

As you read this, I'm on my way to Disneyworld! I'm going on a work trip (best job ever, right?) to Disney for Night Of Joy and because Andy couldn't go (prior commitment!), my mom is going with me! We haven't been to Disney together in about 17 or 18 years - this is going to be great! We went when I was 2, 6, and 11 or 12...and I have been fortunate enough to go 4 times as an adult and it's always a blast.
Take a walk down memory lane with me and check out some of these snapshots from Disney trips past!
Have a great weekend and I'll be back to blogging on Saturday with a link to my guestblog over on Lenore's blog!
Alyssa and I share a common bond - a love of vintage! I met her at Making Merry in Berry Hill last year - my very first fair/market! She has been super supportive of Owl Really ever since, which I so appreciate!
Below, Alyssa shares about her flea-market-find desk!
This is my vintage desk I bought from the Nashville Flea Market! This is the original state I bought it in- no paint needed! I love the white and mint green. I kept the little scratches on it because I thought they made the piece unique. I bought it for only $30!
Letting me loose at the Nashville Flea Market is dangerous... you never know what I will bring home! I think my husband is used to getting calls from me asking to use the "band's van" (he's a tour manager) to come and pick up some vintage furniture for me. Both of us have little Hondas that can't transport very much... Haha!
Right now I use this desk as my vanity- I have my little makeup mirror sitting on it and sit at it to get ready every morning. I love it!
What a great find, Alyssa! Thanks so much for sharing!
If you would like to be considered for Favorite Finds, email me a photo of the item you would choose as your Favorite Find and a little bit about it. I'll write you back with some questions to answer and then we'll get you set up! I have several in store for you guys already so I may not be able to feature every submission that comes in but I would love to see what you guys have!
At 1:21, Mad Men's Pete Campbell explains to his colleagues at Sterling Cooper what a "chip and dip" is. It's pretty surprising that in 1960, it wasn't a common item/snack! (Watch with caution - Pete Campbell is NOT a gentleman...zoom forward to 1:21 if you're easily offended!)
I have my own vintage chip & dip in my booth! I think it's amazing - it's pink and black and on a lazy susan!
I found it at the Nashville Flea Market last weekend, along with the following items:
An adorable chippy pink alarm clock.
pretty cool retro radio
Are you inspired by vintage tv and shows set in earlier decades? I am!
I wish I could remember the first time I ever saw Tammy and the Bachelor, I'm sure it was on AMC years and years ago (back when all they showed were classic movies and not "Death Wish" marathons) and I totally fell in love with it.
This film stars Debbie Reynolds and Leslie Nielsen (he was a HUNK, y'all!) and is about a poor swamp girl who goes to live with a rich family after she must abandon the houseboat she grew up on. The rich son has a snobby girlfriend, the family is responsible for hosting a "rebel ball" on their gorgeous plantation, the rich son doesn't want to be a businessman, he wants to be a farmer, his girlfriend doesn't support that... can you guess what happens?
Add in Tammy's naivete, her pet goat Nan, a quirky aunt, an understanding father, a conniving best friend, a sweet maid, a snobby mother and you get a really delightful story!
Check out one of my favorite scenes below!
What's your favorite lesser-known old movie? Let us know what movies we may have missed! Also - Any Debbie Reynolds or Leslie Nielsen fans out there?
I had been in an awful habit lately of not cooking, so I did a bit of meal-planning this week and last night I re-created the first meal Andy & I ever made together - a true southern favorite, poppyseed chicken.
Andy has been racking up records lately (he "says" he doesn't like estate sale-ing and flea marketing, but he always finds great records) and he played me one of his favorite blues groups last night, Sonny & Terry.
If you have Spotify, you can listen to their self-titled album. It sounds SO amazing on vinyl, though.
Do you ever pull out vinyl and listen to it? I just love it. It sounds so real and authentic, especially when listening to soul or blues music which is a staple in our house.
When's the last time you listened to records? That could be a great way to spend your Labor Day weekend!!
